BEGGAR
In the summer I sleep in a
doorway,
In a cardboard-covered
box.
In the winter I sleep on a
subway grate,
It keeps me warm at night.
I came down here from
Canada,
Had a job in the shop.
My wife died of cancer,
she was just 23...
I loved her a lot!
Started drinkin' a lot.
Come on down to New York
City!
Now I winter in the
hospital
Summers, out on the street
Last winter I lost my
toes!
I have AIDS
Please have compassion
My insurance won't pay my
bills!
I have AIDS
Please have compassion on
me
Big Brother won't pay!
Don't ask too many
questions,
I can get pretty mean,
I don't have to tell
nothin'
to Time magazine!
